Cortex

Its a sunny Monday and here’s to keeping the blog short and informative.  Today I want to share with you a little piece of scientific evolution.  We are parents for a very good and well thought out reason.  Our brains, albeit, not always functioning perfectly, are fully developed.  Our children’s brains are not.  In fact the part of the brain responsible for logic and reason, isn’t fully developed until the age of 22 – 24 years of age.  In some males it never develops… ok, just kidding on the last part!

It is our job to make major decisions and to lead our children confidently.  They do not yet know what it is like to way pros and cons and to sort information in a logical way.  They need us!!

My Thought for the Day:

“Your child’s cerebral cortex, the part of the brain used for reason and logic, is not fully developed until 22 – 24 years of age.  In the meantime you are in charge of this part of the brain.  Lead your child’s cortex with love & CONFIDENCE.”

No matter what, no matter how, where or who – you can always turn around and get a second chance.
