Christmas Wish

It’s December 9th today and the Christmas decorations are resting easy in the garage.  I have yet to buy a single present and i haven’t even made the famous Healey Family Christmas Card.  If you know me well, you know I go to great lengths to put  something ingenious  out every year.  One year I had the three boys in their hockey jerseys with gloves and sticks beating each other up and inside the card it read “peace on earth”.  Another year i packaged them up in a box & arranged to place them in front of a Canada Post truck and it read “return to sender”.  Another year we had “we three kings”… You get the idea.

This year Christmas is happening to the Healey family versus us happening to Christmas.  My wish for the holidays is to stay in my pjs past noon on as many days as possible.  To lay on the floor with my boys and make domino tracks, to play Trouble, Battleship & Monopoly from start to finish.  To go out for a walk to see the Christmas lights.  To play road hockey in the backyard and when it rains we can watch a Christmas movie all piled in my bed.

Wishing all parents a holiday that is full of what they need in order to find rest, peace and the pure joy of connecting with those you love.

One Response to Christmas Wish

“It’s impossible” said pride.  “It’s risky” said experience. “It’s pointless” said reason.  “Give it a try” whispered the heart.
